The 31 year-old is aiming to get back to winning ways following a close split decision defeat to Thomas Dulorme in December and has more than just revenge against the Puerto Rican on his mind once he puts himself in contention once again.
“I have been working my ass off as I know I need a win over a big-name fighter that’s hot in the game,” Lundy told World Boxing News.
“It’s going to be ‘Hammerin’ Hank against Herrera and will fight my ass off. It’s what I’m known for. I see the fight ending in a KO or TKO.”
Asked about what could be his next move following next month’s outing, Lunday gave an eye-opening answer: “I have to get the win, then I would love a rematch with Dulorme but I know he’s scared to fight me again.
“If I could choose someone out there to face though it would be Floyd Mayweather because people think he is so great and can’t be beat.
“It just takes a special fighter that’s going to go in there and say, ‘Fuck all I heard, or what he did in boxing.’ I’m the right person with all the tools to do it.”
Lundy boasts standout victories over the likes of Richar Abril, David Diaz and Ajose Olusegun in a rollercoaster career that has so far just fallen short of a predicted world title triumph.
A win over the all-action Herrera would put Lundy right in the mix to meet some of the top contenders around at 140 or 147, although the fighter himself admits that another defeat would put a permanent dent in his future hopes of becoming world champion.
