Sheedy gunning for Mansouri KO on July 4

In a hugely-anticipated Yorkshire-derby scrap, screened live on Spike TV (Channels: Sky 160, Freeview 31, Talk Talk 31, Freesat 141, BT TV 31), Sheffield’s Sheedy is adamant Mansouri will lose his belt in front of his own fans.

“I think he’ll expose himself and I’ll catch him,” explained Sheedy, who is unbeaten in 15 fights with three KOs. “I’m the fittest I’ve ever been. I’m super-fit to do 10 rounds and step the pace up when I catch him, which I’m going to do and finish him.

“I’m winning either way, points or KO, but I can see myself stopping him.”

With the added confidence of being the current belt-holder, and just a single defeat in 17 outings, Rotherham’s Mansouri will enter the fight as the favourite for many punters. Undeterred, ‘Speedy’ Sheedy knows Nav will come at him all-guns-blazing from the opening bell but believes recklessness will be the champion’s downfall.

“He is very strong and explosive. He likes to have a fight, which is perfect for me because I’m a counter-puncher. If I could pick an opponent it would be Nav because he comes forward, he’s upright and he’s wild, and I’ll punish him for that.”

Dennis Hobson Promotions presents Nav Mansouri defending his English light-middleweight title against Sam Sheedy at Rotherham’s Magna Centre on July 4. Chief support sees Lewis Taylor versus Grant Cunningham for the vacant English middleweight title.
