Porter unanimously defeats shot-shy Broner in Las Vegas

Despite having to boil down to 144lbs, the 27 year-old was on top from the first bell and it wasn’t until the very end of the fight that Broner truly got into the fight.

Broner enjoyed a good fifth, although it could have been argued that Porter took all the other sessions until a sensational left hook from the three-weight world champion in the final round threatened to turn the fight on it’s head.

Porter’s head cleared luckily for him, and ‘Showtime’ went on to see out a 118-108, 115-111 and 114-112 triumph to push his C.V to 26-1-1.

‘The Problem’ drops to 30-2 with the loss and should now consider moving back to 140lbs which seems to be his ideal weight class.

After the fight, victor Porter had this to say: “That’s how you beat a great fighter intelligently. We tried to establish dominance and that’s what got us the win. It was a great fight for us and a great win,” he said.

“It was a great performance and a great performance from AB too,” trainer and father Kenny Porter added.

Broner said: “I’m fine. I’m healthy and I’m financially secure. It’s okay. It’s how you take a loss and come back from it.”
