Jean, Ortiz and Hyppolite claim victories in Montreal

Dierry Jean out-pointed Jerry Belmontes over ten rounds to successfully defend his NABF lightweight title for the second time.

After ten rounds, judges handed the 33 year-old the victory 99-89, 98-91 and 99-90 as Jean moved to 29-1 in his career.

Former interim WBA heavyweight champion Luis Ortiz scored a first round stoppage win over an out-of-shape Byron Polley.

The undefeated Cuban star dropped Polley three times in the early stages leading to the referee stepping in to save him from a further beating.

Schiller Hyppolite defeated Kevin Cojean over ten rounds in a hard-fought battle for a fringe version of the WBC super middleweight belt.

The 29 year-old took the decision 98-92 and 97-93 (twice) and can now boast a record of 16-1.

Earlier, Steven Butler lost his perfect record when the super welterweight contender was held to a draw by Jaime Herrera.

Herrera proved a worthy test for Butler and may count himself unlucky to not gain a majority decision after the judges carded 77-74 in his favour and 75-75 (twice).

In an eight-rounder, Mian Hussain gave nothing away against Ivan Pereyra as the welterweight won every round on his to 12-0.

Also on the bill, Ghislain Maduma, Ayaz Hussain and Mathieu Germain all stopped their respective opponents in the second round.
