Roberto Duran to be ringside guest in Trinidad this Friday night

WBF 17/06/2015

Living legend Roberto Duran will be a special ringside-guest when Floyd Trumpet Productions in association with Goldeneye Productions present a World Boxing Federation (WBF) doubleheader at Skinner Park in San Fernando, Trinidad & Tobago on Friday June 19.

Fighting for the vacant WBF Caribbean Light Heavyweight title, hard-punching local favorite Kirt Sinette will take on undefeated fellow countryman Nigel Edwards, in what on paper appears to be a very intriguing match-up with potential to excite the fans.

With several regional titles already on his resume, Sinette enters this fight as the more experienced boxer, with a professional record of 22-2 (18), including a 2011 stoppage victory over former British, Commonwealth and European champion Howard Eastman.

Edwards on the other hand, will be in his first championship fight, but has so far never tasted defeat, bringing an 8-0-1 (4) ledger, and is reportedly hungry and determined to capitalize on the biggest opportunity of his career, having waited patiently since his debut in 2006.

In the co-featured bout, Trinidad & Tobago┬┤s Kertson “Warrior” Manswell will attempt to resurrect his career as he squares off with Mitchell Rogers from Guyana for the vacant WBF Caribbean Heavyweight title. This will be their third time in the ring together, with Manswell winning the two previous encounters.

Manswell is 24-10 (18) in the paid ranks, and is known for his willingness to fight anybody, anywhere. So far he has come up short in fights against some of the best in the world, including Deontay Wilder, Bermane Stiverne, Mike Perez, Alexander Ustinov and Ruslan Chagaev.

Rogers lost his pro debut to Manswell in 2005, and a rematch in 2011, but only two other opponents have otherwise managed to beat him, while he has defeated eight foes to bring his record to 8-4 (5). He is coming off two victories at home in Guyana.
