The inaugural MGM Promotions Scotland event will take place on Friday 12th June at the Bellahouston Sports Centre in Glasgow. Promoter Sam Kynoch is lining up an excellent bill and has already confirmed 6 Scottish boxers for the event.
Top of the bill will be Caldercruix Super-Middleweight David Brophy, who is undefeated in 13 fights and on the cusp of a major title challenge. David recently signed a management deal with the MGM team and is excited to appear in front of his home crowd and build upon the explosive fist round TKO which he scored in last fight.
The bill will also feature four new additions to the stable of MGM managed boxers: Marc Kerr, Ross Henderson, Brian Forsyth and Gordon Brennan. Glasgow’s Kerr is also trained by event Promoter Sam Kynoch, who commented that: “Marc is one of the most exciting boxers in Scotland and he will be looking to make a statement on 12th June”.
Ross Henderson, 2x Commonwealth Games representative for Scotland, will make his professional debut up at Heavyweight. Henderson, who stands at 6ft 6ins, is a huge prospect for Scottish boxing in the Heavyweight division. Team MGM are delighted to have him as part of their team and have devised a plan which will look to expedite his rise to domestic title contention.
Edinburgh’s Brian Forsyth, former Scottish amateur champion at 81kg, now competing at Super-Middleweight, and Fifer Gordon Brennan complete the line-up of MGM managed boxers appearing on the bill. They will be joined by Coatbridge’s 4-0 Welterweight Gary Murray, who trains out of the MGM Scotland Gym in Glasgow.
Team MGM Manager Matthew Macklin commented that: “this is the venue where I made my professional debut back in 2001 so it is fitting that the first MGM Promotions Scotland event is taking place at the same venue. I am looking forward to attending the event and seeing the MGM brand grow in Scotland”.
Tickets for the event are priced at £60 (Reserved Ringside) and £40 (Unreserved). Tickets will be on sale next week and are available from any of the boxers on the bill; from the MGM Scotland Gym (31 Portman Street, Glasgow G41 1EJ) or from the Bellahouston Sports Centre (0141 276 0767).
