Devin Reti headlines Teofista Boxing Series 16 on May 29

The Teofista Boxing Series (TBS) is proud to announce it’s much-anticipated return to the Chinese Cultural Centre in Calgary, Alberta, for a six-fight card on Friday, May 29.

The main event will feature local middleweight prospect Devin Reti (1-0-0, 1KOs) in a four rounder against battle-tested veteran Antonio Dos Santos (2-9-0, 1KOs) of East Vancouver, British Columbia. An accomplished amateur, Reti started his pro campaign with a bang last November, stopping the more experienced Starr Roberts of North Dakota via second round knockout. TBS is making this fight particularly special for Reti by donating a portion of the proceeds to the Alberta Cancer Foundation in memory of his mother, who recently lost her battle with the disease.

In another exciting four rounder, Calgary’s undefeated cruiserweight sensation Jordan Smith (3-0-1, 1KOs) takes on newcomer, and cross-town rival, Elliot Duff. Smith put himself in national title contention last month with a unanimous decision over Rob Nichols of Edmonton. Duff is new to boxing, but not to fighting. He is a former professional mixed martial artist, with seven fights to his credit. If Smith adds another win to his record Friday night, TBS will try to match him for a Canadian title in the near future.

At lightweight, Calgary’s own Roxie “The Ram” Lam (5-0-0, 3KOs) is in tough against Manitoba prospect Kyle Oliveira (1-1-0, 1KO) of Winnipeg in a four rounder. Lam scored a unanimous decision of Saskatchewan’s Wayne Smith last month, moving him within striking distance of a Canadian championship. After losing his pro debut in 2014, Oliveira bounced back last month, stopping Minnesota vet Antwan Robertson in under a round.

Calgary’s Alex Rynn (1-0-0), the man who handed Oliveira his only loss, will also be in action, taking on Reese Chapman (0-4-0) of Edmonton in a lightweight four rounder. Rynn is a former Canadian amateur champion with a bright future in the punch-for-pay game. With four bouts as a pro boxer, and another three in MMA, Chapman should be a good test for highly-touted Calgarian.

The evening will be rounded out by two bouts featuring hungry up-and-comers. Brian Samuel of Red Deer will make his pro debut against Mike Brandon (1-0-0, 1KOs) of Toronto at light middleweight and, down at junior welterweight, Connor Bush (0-0-1) of Calgary meets greenhorn Robert Nelson of Saskatchewan. Both fights are scheduled for four rounds.
