Results round-up: One punch KO for 7ft Taishan (video)

Phil Jay 23/05/2015

Taishan Dong made it three knockouts from five wins on Friday night as the seven-foot heavyweight giant continues to learn his craft following a switch from kickboxing.

The hard-hitting 27 year-old, who holds a victory over fight legend Bob Sapp during his previous career, landed a devasting right hand on the out-of-depth Lance Gaunch in California to keep up his unbeaten beginnings in the sport.

In the main event at Fantasy Springs, Eric Hunter wasted no time finishing off Antonio Escalante via a first round knockout, whilst Abraham Lopez and Joet Gonzalez remained undefeated with victories over Alfred Tetteh and Jose Angel Beranza respectively.

The shock of the night came as Andres Gutierrez lost his ‘0’ when Paul Valenzuela took a majority decision in their middleweight contest. Valenzuela, who was drafted in late as an opponent for Gutierrez, won 60-54 and 58-56 on the cards as a third judge carded 57-57.

Elsewhere in Las Vegas, unbeaten globetrotter Richard Commey recorded his 20th stoppage from 22 wins by halting dangerous southpaw Bahodir Mamadjonov at The D Hotel. Commey, 28, claimed a fringe version of the IBF lightweight title, and on current form, looks a certainty to be world champion within a year.

On the undercard, Arif Magomedov ended his fight with Darnell Boone in the very first round, whilst lightweights Jesus Gutierrez and Angel Hernandez fought out a majority draw.
