Though he would rather see Manny Pacquiao hang up his gloves, the Filipino fighter’s Canadian adviser said that if Pacquiao’s next fight is against Floyd Mayweather next year, then he’d welcome it.
“I’d like to see Manny retire but if he would fight Mayweather again, I’d be right behind him,” said Mike Koncz.
Lately, there’s been rumors that a second meeting between Pacquiao and Mayweather is being cooked up for May 2016 with the soon-to-be-completed 20,000 MGM-AEG Arena in Las Vegas being eyed as venue.
Mayweather beat Pacquiao on a unanimous decision, but it was later discovered that Pacquiao injured his right arm during the fight and it hampered his movement and messed up his gameplan.
Pacquiao has undergone surgery to repair a torn rotator cuff on his right shoulder and will have to rest it out the rest of the year.
But Koncz made it clear that it is too early to discuss a rematch.
“Let Floyd have his moment and enjoy his win,” said a gracious Koncz as Pacquiao continues to recover from the injury.
