Hugo Ruiz v Nonito Donaire talks going well for WBC eliminator
The World Boxing Council have ordered a fight between #1 ranked super bantamweight Hugo “Cuatito” Ruíz and #3 WBC ranked five-time world champion Nonito “Flash” Donaire with the contest currently in the discussions phase.
Ruiz is with Promociones del Pueblo and Sampson Boxing Promotions and has worked his way to the number one position at 122lbs. He has a record of 35 victories, 31 of them by KO and 2 losses. He is poudly the next division contender of the WBC.
Donaire, known as ‘Filipino Flash,’ is one of the most renowned punchers around. Boxing fans will always remember his great victories against Fernando Montiel, Toshiaki Nishioka, Jorge Arce and Vic Darchinyan in two different reigns as a world title holder.
The WBC super bantamweight championship is currently in the firm grasp of Mexican Leo “Terremoto” Santa Cruz, who may climb up a division soon making this bout a veritable cliffhanger with future title possibilities.
Promociones del Pueblo is currently negotiating with Top Rank Promotions to secure date and venue for the clash as the WBC extended a period of free negotiations which seem to be progressing well.
