Takashi Uchiyama set for surgery; GGG v Monroe officials

Hilmar Rojas 15/05/2015

A lesion in the left elbow of the World Boxing Association super champion Takashi Uchiyama will force him to undergo surgery at the end of May.

Uchiyama (23-0-1, 19 KO) recently defended his title against the Thai Jomthong Chuwatana, whom he defeated by KO.

Initially, they had spoken of a hand injury, but it seems that the problem was originally caused by wear and tear of an elbow cartilage. This will cause Uchiyama to cease activity for a few months, and he is expected to return to the ring by year’s end. The injury will prevent Japanese to follow his plan for three defenses in the 2015.
