The World Boxing Association 160 lbs super World champion Kazakh Gennady Golovkin went through public training prior to his upcoming fourteenth defense against the North American Willie Monroe Jr this Saturday at the Inglewood Forum, California.
He went through the practise session with his trainer Abel Sánchez, before the media who did not waste the opportunity to talk to the champion.
While he losened up in the ring, with hand movements and doing shadow boxing, he heard the question, Are you ready to fight Floyd Mayweather? Quickly the fighter answered, with his characteristic smile, “Ask Mayweather if he is ready for me”, which caused the laughter of those present.
Golovkin (32-0, 29 KO), also worked on movements and mitts with Sanchez. He posed for all the reporters present, signed autographs for the public and then left. Opponent Monroe Jr. (19-1, 6 KO), and all the fighters in the event also held training sessions.
