Fight updates: Wilder-Molina; Broner-Porter; Barthelemy-DeMarco

Rumours had been rife for the past week that Molina was being considered as Wilder’s maiden opponent as champion, although manager and trainer Jay Deas was coy when as by WBN if this was the case over the weekend. The fight is set to be officially confirmed in the coming days though as Molina steps up in class and participates in a first world title fight.

Molina, 33, has lost two of 25 contests as a pro, both via first round KO, and will be an odds-on favourite to be yet another early victim for Wilder – who went past four rounds for the first time in his career when dethroning Bermane Stiverne in January.

A week later at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, US star Adrien Broner will make his return to action as ‘The Problem’ forges his path to a potential fourth-weight world title at the super lightweight limit. The 25 year-old is close to finalizing a deal to face former IBF welterweight champion Shawn Porter, although a catchweight clash of 144-145lbs is currently been ironed out, according to the LA Times’ Lance Pugmire.

Another fight in the works is former IBF super featherweight champion Rances Barthelemy facing tough Mexican Antonio DeMarco as the Cuban known as ‘Kid Blast’ continues his run at lightweight against the ex-WBC title holder.

More details on all three bouts will be released soon.
