World Boxing News will be scoring live on site this Saturday night as a host of bouts take place on both sides of the Atlantic.
The main fight of the evening in Texas features Mexican superstar Canelo Alvarez going up against big-punching James Kirkland in a super welterweight contest. Canelo is continuing his recovery after suffering a first career loss in to Floyd Mayweather in 2013 and stands on the brink of a WBC title shot as the number one contender.
Joshua Clottey, a main rival for Canelo at 154lbs and potential future opponent fights on the undercard.
Fighting in the same city at a separate venue, WBA bantamweight champion Jamie McDonnell puts his belt on the line against former WBO title holder Tomoki Kameda. Compatriot Ricky Burns also features on the card as he battles ex-lightweight world title holder Omar Figueroa on the American’s debut at 140lbs.
In the UK, Olympic champion Anthony Joshua makes his 12th career appearance against Rafael Love aiming for another heavyweight victory within three rounds, whilst three-time world title challenger Matthew Macklin, fellow Olympian Luke Campbell, welterweight Sam Eggington and talented flyweight Kal Yafai all have bouts lined up on the Birmingham bill.
