Jason Welborn v Ryan Aston tops Wolverhampton on June 6

UKO Boxing 07/05/2015

A quartet of Midlands Area Titles are up for grabs this summer as PJ Promotions deliver a much-anticipated night of championship boxing at Wolverhampton Civic Hall on Saturday, 6th June.

‘You Asked For It’ features four Area Title fights but it’s not just belts at stake; local pride and bragging rights are also on the line too.

The highly-anticipated Black Country Derby between Rowley Regis’ Jason Welborn and Dudley’s Ryan ‘Tank’ Aston tops the bill.

Two-time British title challenger, Welborn, is the current Midlands Area Light Middleweight King and a fight with Aston has long been on the wish list of every Midlands fight fan. It promises to be explosive.

Redditch’s Andrew Robinson goes head to head with Ilkeston’s Prince Davis for the vacant Midlands Area Super Middleweight Title. D’Animal earned all the plaudits despite his recent defeat at the fists of WBO ranked Frank Buglioni. Robinson will be looking to bounce back with a belt against the former Midlands Area Middleweight Champion.

Bloxwich’s Luke Paddock makes a maiden defence of his Midlands Area Light Welterweight Crown against Birmingham’s Chris Truman. ‘Cool Hand’ is undefeated in 11 professional contests whilst ‘The Trumanator’ will be hoping it’s second time lucky after previously being outpointed for the strap by current Commonwealth Champion, Dave Ryan.

The final Midlands Title match-up sees Wolverhampton’s Des Bowater step in with Lincoln’s Bobby Jenkinson for the vacant featherweight strap. ‘D-Bow’ goes into the contest on the back of winning a British Bronze Masters Title whilst Jenkinson will be full of confidence after outpointing the previously unbeaten Charlie Payton.

‘You Asked For It’ also features Black Country ticket sellers Tyler Denny and Les Byfield, Welshpool’s Warren Sinden and Birmingham cruiserweight Ollie Lambert, who is set to make his professional debut.
