‘Iron’ Will Young back on June 27, eyes Luke Jackson rematch

TGW & Smithy 07/05/2015

TOOWOOMBA’S IRON WILL YOUNG WANTS HIS AUSTRALIAN TITLE BACK. His road to redemption stars on June 27 with the exciting announcement that he will be fighting on June 27 at Rumours International on the much-anticipated card TGW & Smithy bring the big fights 10.

“June 27, here we come,” Will Young said.

“I want another shot at Luke Jackson and I want my Australian title back – that’s what I want.

“The journey starts here in Toowoomba, June 27 is the biggest fight of my life, I need to win to keep my Australian title hopes alive.

Young has become a household name in the Garden City and his reputation only grew following his amazing fight with Luke Jackson on March 14.

“I was very proud of my performance against Luke Jackson, not bad for a bloke who was supposed to get knocked out in two rounds and was given no chance at all,” Young said with a smile.

“But at the end of the day he won, I lost.

“That eats at me, to lose by a split is hard to deal with.

“But that’s in the past, we only look forward.

“I need to earn a re-match against Jackson and I hope to do that with an impressive win against a quality opponent on June 27.”

The announcement is great news for Toowoomba fight fans, Young has one of the largest supporter bases in the Garden City.

“I love fighting in front of Toowoomba, I love Toowoomba, as a community we are passionate people and when I get into the ring I’m all about passion, heart and an iron will to win,” Young said.

“It’s the support of so many people, family, friends and fans that pushes me to fight the way I do.

“I want to give those fans the kind of fights they want to see.

“June 27 will be no different, whoever is in the opposite corner better be ready because as always I’ll put it all on the line.

“This may as well be for the Australian title, because if I win it enhances my chances of a re-match with Luke Jackson but if I lose – it’s a long road back.”

Young’s trainer/manager and TGW & Smithy Bring the Big fights 10 Promoter Brendon Smith is thrilled to have Iron Will on the card.

“Will Young is fast becoming Toowoomba boxing’s favourite son – it’s a huge news that he will be back in the ring on June 27,” Smith said.

“I’m in negotiations for an opponent and it will be a tough test for Will.

“He’s earned that. He showed against Luke Jackson he can mix it with the best in this country.

“If he wants another shot at Luke Jackson we need a good win against a good opponent in June.

“Nearly every show Will is in a ‘fight of the night’ style bout – this one won’t be any different.

“It’s exciting. We now have Kris George and Will Young confirmed for this show and more big names will be announced in coming weeks.
