Uchiyama (23-0-1, 19 KO) defended the title for the tenth time which he won in 2010 when he defeated Carlos Salgado by KO.
The champion was always superior to Chuwatana (9-1, 4 KO), who withstood the combination attacks of the Japanese fighter in the first round but ended it with a swollen right eyelid.
However, he managed to come back a little in the second round making an attempt to control the actions, but was met with an incessant offensive display from Uchiyama until a short right to the jaw that left Chuwatana lying on the canvas.
The Puerto Rican referee Roberto Ramírez Sr immediately began counting, but as he did not see the Challenger response he decreed the end of the fight.
Until that moment, the judges’ scores from Ferlin Marsh, Wan Soo Yuh and Derek Milham were all 10-9 in the first round all in favor of the defending champion.
Earlier on the same bill, the 108-pound champion, Ryoichi Taguchi (22-2, 9 KO) also retained his title by TKO, this time in the 8th, to dispatch the Thai Kwanthai Sithmorseng (49-4, 26 KO).
Chudinov vs Sturm this Saturday in Germany
Russian Fedor Chudinov will defend, this Saturday, May 9, 2015, his World Boxing Association bantamweight interim title against former world champion Felix Sturm.
The Russian is undefeated with 12 wins and 10 KO’s, whilst Sturm (39-4-3, 18 KO) seeks a new crown after having reigned with the WBO, WBA and IBF on different occasions since 2003.
Chudinov won the title in the Dominican Republic where he beat the local Andy Perez by TKO3 in June 2014. He defended for the first time against Ben McCulloch whom he dispatched by KO in two rounds on December 11, 2014.
The American Rafael Ramos will be the referee of the bout. Robert Hoyle (US), Victor Simons (PAN) and Pawel Kardini (POL), will be in charge of the cards all supervised by George Martínez.
Robert Hoyle will referee Weber vs Culcay
The American Robert Hoyle will referee the World Boxing Association 154-lbs interim title fight, between the Germans Maurice Weber and Jack Culcay on Saturday, May 9, 2015 in Frankfurt, Germany
Hoyle will be accompanied by judges Rafael Ramos (US), Victor Simons (bread) and Pawel Kardini (POL), under the supervision of George Martínez.
The interim fight will be between the two available top-rated contenders. Culcay (19-1, 10 KO) fifth rated boxer, while Weber (1-21-1, 8 KO) is rated sixth Division.
Galina Ivanova vs Csilla Nemedi fight for the 118 interim title
This Saturday at the of Natural Sciences and Mathematics gym, in Vratsa, Bulgaria, the World Boxing Association 118 pound interim title fight between Galina Ivanova and Csilla Nemedi will take place.
The Bulgarian Ivanova (15-10-4, 2 KO) and the Hungarian Nemedi (8-0, 6 KO) will face-off for the vacant title. Both are making their first attempt for a world title.
The referee of the bout will be Jean Robert Lainé (MON), and Jean Louis Legland (FRA), Luigi Boscarelli (ITA) and Yorgan Ezekiev (BUL) will score.
The supervisor of the fight will be Mariana Borissova.
