The 38 year-old has secretly been on a collision course with the Filipino despite leading fans to believe that the fight would not happen for years, and says he has always planned his moves carefully to get himself to this point.

“From the beginning of my career, I’ve always had a game plan. It’s just like chess. We make calculated moves in the ring and outside the ring. I got with the right team and surrounded myself with the right chess pieces,” said Mayweather.

“I’m a lot wiser than I once was. This fight sells itself. Our ultimate goal was to get to this point, whether it was Manny or another fighter.

“Everything takes time, it’s all about timing. I’m glad that we had patience and didn’t rush. The time is now, this is the right time for this fight.

“I don’t take anything away from Manny Pacquiao. He’s a solid fighter; a solid competitor and it will be an intriguing matchup come Saturday.

‘Money’ Mayweather stands to make the biggest purse any fighter has ever cashed this weekend at the world famous MGM Grand and will aim to finally seal ‘checkmate’ against the ‘Pacman’ after a long six-year wait to see the pair finally share a ring.
