MayPac predictions: Manager’s edition (Part I)
World Boxing News have been busy gathering a huge collection of predictions for this weekend’s massive pay-per-view clash between Floyd Mayweather Jr and Manny Pacquiao taking place at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
Personalities from the whole spectrum of the sport have given their input into the poll as we count down the days to the most highly anticipated fight of this generation when two of the best ever collide to finally decide the pound for pound king.
WBC and WBA welterweight champion Mayweather, 38, and 36 year-old WBO title holder Pacquiao lay it all on the line in a $250m blockbuster match-up and below are some of the views given by those from the boxing fraternity.
Carla Ja (Carla Ja Sports) – My Prediction is that Mayweather will win by unanimous decision. He will Box Smart – yet cautious, stay on the outside and tag Manny with a
plethora of straight rights. I have it 9-3 with Manny capitalizing on a few early rounds.
Pedro Garcia (PG Boxing) – Mayweather W12 Pacquiao.
Nathan Lewkowicz – Mayweather gets cut by a Pac headbutt. Pac goes after it and wins by TKO. Southpaw vs orthodox fighters are prone to headbutts and Mayweather does cut.
Sampson Lewkowicz – My prediction is a Mayweather gains a split decision victory in a controversial fight.
Matt Clark – Mayweather by decision. Hard to pick against him. I think Pac has success early, but Floyd works him out in the end.
Asif Vali – It will be a tight fight and I see a split decision to Floyd Mayweather and it will be interesting how the others see it. I have been in both camps and see how hard they both work.
Gary Hyde – I believe Manny will apply constant pressure on Floyd attacking from angles and will win on points.
David Coldwell – I think it’s Money all the way! People underestimate his work ethic and drive to succeed. It’s immense. Just as Manny’s is, but the boxing brain of Floyd is second to none in this era of the sport. He knows how to adjust mid-fight. When he’s had moments of stress In fights before, he’s solved the problem and come back to dominate. Look at how badly Mosley hurt him? But he came back in the very same round. He has balls and toughness to go with his skills and brain.
I think he’ll set that right hand up all night keeping Manny off balance with the jab and footwork. Yes, maybe it takes a couple rounds to solve the southpaw all-action style of Manny, but he will end up dominating.
Neil Marsh – I feel Floyd hasn’t got the power to stop Manny unless Pacquiao gets reckless. Manny’s style is perfect for Floyd. I would love Manny to win due to the way he conducts himself, but unfortunately I feel it will be a convincing points win for Mayweather.
