MayPac weigh-in fee set to be donated to charity

Floyd Mayweather Manny Pacquiao

Fight fans who wish to witness the official weigh-in for the Manny Pacquiao-Floyd Mayweather Jr. fight will have to pay $10 as entry fee for the privilege of seeing the two men strip and step on the scales on the eve of the richest fight in history.

This move was agreed upon by the promoters owing to the tremendous attention given to the epic meeting. The entry fee has been introduced to limit the number of people who will watch the weigh in. Only ticket holders will get a seat.

The proceeds, however, will not go to the pockets of the promoters or the boxers but to the charity of choice by the boxers.

This will mark the first time in the history of boxing that fans will be charged a fee to watch the boxers weigh themselves. Normally this event is short, practically insignificant. But the occasion is the last chance for fans to see the boxers up close before the fight.

Or maybe, their only chance to see the Pacquiao and Mayweather in the flesh as tickets to the fight will be expensive. The cheapest reportedly will cost $1,500.

Park Plaza Inn, a nondescript and small hotel on 3rd Street in Los Angeles near The Grove shopping center has replaced the Vagabond Inn as the new home of Team Pacquiao.

For many years, the Vagabond Inn on Vine Street in Hollywood, right next to the Wild Card Boxing Club, was the official residence of Pacquiao’s friends, followers and even members of the media.

But in the last quarter of 2014, the Vagabond Inn was demolished to give way to a classier hotel.

It was at the Vagabond Inn where Pacquiao spent many nights while preparing for a big fight beginning in 2001.
