Americans are going to cheer and root for Manny Pacquiao against the unbeaten Floyd Mayweather, according to Hall of Fame promoter Bob Arum of Top Rank.
“Most Americans you would think would be rooting for Mayweather, but the contrast is true. The majority of the American population is rooting for Manny,” Arum, 83, told Sky Sports.
“It’s slowly developing into a culture clash. Floyd Mayweather is outstanding at marketing himself and in his own words represents ostentatious materialism.”
While Mayweather is too flashy with his wealth and fame, Pacquiao, noted Arum, “feels tremendous obligation to give back and engage in charitable endeavors.”
Return to Griffith
Manny Pacquiao has resumed his mountain ascent after abandoning it for a week owing to leg problems.
Since the problem has already been addressed, Pacquiao has returned to the site of many of his intense morning roadwork as his build-up intensifies for next month’s monster matchup in Las Vegas.
Pacquiao will run up Griffith Park during non-sparring days except Wednesdays since that day will be devoted to doing sprints at the UCLA track.
His thrice-a-week jaunt at the Pan Pacific Park won’t change until he travels to Las Vegas on the Monday of fight week.
