Brook proved he’s no joke, no toy to play with – Rios

‘Bam Bam’ is one of the frontrunners to land a clash with Brook in the Briton’s next outing and the former lightweight world champion had nothing but respect for the man he hopes to face in the ring over the coming months.

“Kell Brook did a great job, an awesome job and what he was supposed to do to Jo Jo Dan,” Rios exclusively told World Boxing News.

“I’d never heard what type of fighter Jo Jo Dan was, but he was the mandatory for the IBF so he must have something good to be the mandatory. Brook did what he had to do to win that fight comfortably to show everybody that he is no joke and no toy to play around with.

“The first I heard about Brook is when he fought Shawn Porter and now I have also seen him against Jo Jo Dan. So what I have seen and what I have been told by others lately is that he is a great boxer/puncher.

“If we fought, I think it would be for a good fight for the UK fans and I hope we can do it,” he added.

Rios, 28, has built himself back up since losing to Manny Pacquiao in 2013, and following two recent victories, is intent on landing another chance at a recognised belt.

The Californian sees Brook as the perfect opportunity to put himself back in the reckoning at the very top of the 147lb rankings and is keen for manager Cameron Dunkin to seal a deal with Brook’s representative Eddie Hearn.
