Three-weight world champion Adrien Broner has been speaking face-to-face with ex-140lb title holder Amir Khan as the two mull over the possibility of a massive future clash.
The 25 year-old is rumoured to be returning to action on June 20 which falls inside Khan’s commitment to Ramadan, although an encounter could still be on the cards for the two talented fighters at some point in the coming months.
In the clip posted to Broner’s Instagram account, ‘The Problem’ is seen in talks with Khan via FaceTime and at one point says: ‘Tell him to make the fight man, let’s get this money!”
UK fans will be dismayed by the video as there is demand in Britain for Khan to agree a battle with IBF welterweight champion and crowd favorite Kell Brook, whilst Broner’s interest could conceivably throw a spanner in the works of any potential deal.
Khan v Broner would be a high-profile fight Stateside and keep either on track to meet the winner of the May 2 supe-fight between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao, although plenty of obstacles would have to be manoeuvred before any contest could be signed and sealed.
Broner has recently been campaigning at Khan’s old super lightweight limit and is on the verge of a world title shot as he bids for a fourth-weight championship, but would be required to go back up those seven pounds or at least agree to a catchweight.
