Carl Froch says Barry Hearn told him to retire, urges Amir Khan to face Kell Brook

Froch, 37, is rumoured to be considering hanging up his gloves for good after taking an extended break from the sport, and when asked by presenter Johnny Nelson straight up if he is fighting again, the Nottingham fighter gave a tongue in cheek reply.

“Well Barry Hearn told me tonight that I should retire,” said Froch, before adding: “I might take his advice, but he might regret saying it.”

The three-time world title holder also gave his thoughts on the prospect of Amir Khan fighting Kell Brook in a blockbuster fight on June 13 and followed Matchroom boss Eddie Hearn in urging the former super lightweight king to take the fight.

“Amir Khan says he is a level above Kell Brook, but the timing is right. Kell has just defended his world title I style and Khan should come over here and prove it.”

Brook pounded the out-of-depth Dan into submission in four rounds to make his first successful defence of the IBF welterweight title at the Motorpoint Arena in Sheffield.
