Del Valle and Acosta win: Results from Puerto Rico

An electrifying night of the classic rivalry between Puerto Rico and Mexico was what the fans witnessed at the Roger Mendoza Coliseum in Caguas. Puerto Ricans as Luis Orlando Del Valle and Angel ‘Tito’ Acosta demonstrated once again their power by winning their respective bouts by knockout against top opponents.

Del Valle went to battle against the Aztec warrior Roberto Castañeda. By the third round, there was an accidental clash of heads where Del Valle came out with a cut on his nose. ‘Orlandito’ never left his fight plan though and continued to punish an exhausted Castañeda. By the eight round, Del Valle landed a brutal right hand on Castañeda that ended the fight.

Very powerful Angel Acosta

Angel ‘Tito’ Acosta improved his record to 10 wins as a professional unbeaten with 10 stunning knockouts after beating Mexican veteran Armando Vazquez. During the very first round, Acosta began implementing his pace and strength during the initial minutes landing heavy blows but taking the best part of fiery encounter. Acosta finished annihilating Armando Vázquez during the seventh round after landing strong combinations.

“I felt fine, my hands were hurting him from the first round. I am very happy with this great victory,” said Acosta.

Big win for Alberto Machado

Alberto ‘Explosivo’ Machado honored his nickname when he stopped in the very first round the Colombian veteran Jean J. Sotelo who was receiving heavy punishment from the beginning of the combat. Strong combinations to the head and body diminished the resistance of his opponent who could not continue the combat.

In other results, the American Rashidi Ellis (14-0,11KO’s) got a TKO victory over Colombian Victor Gonzalez to become the WBC Latino and WBA Fedecentro welterweight champion.

Luis ‘Cuba’ Arias returned successfully to score a disqualification victory over the American Zacariah Kelly who never stopped of throwing low blows. Carlos ‘Kid’ Narváez improved to 9-0 with 6 knockouts after his battle with Angel Lopez, whilst Yomar Alamo returned successfully and won a unanimous decision against Bryan Montalvo. Antonio ‘Cacique’ Ortiz had a unanimous decision victory against William Lorenzo while Bryan Chevalier and Emmanuel Morales got victories by knockout.

Boxeo Al Maximo will return on Saturday April 4 at the Palacios De Los Deportes in Mayaguez and the headline clash will be Jose ‘Chiquiro’ Martinez vs. Juan ‘Cowi’ Herrera and will be presented by Miguel Cotto Promotions and H2 Entertainment in association with Roc Nation Sports.
