Berto stops Lopez; Washington wins; Vazquez, Porter, Arreola return to form

The 31 year-old built on his points win over Steve Upsher Chambers in September by dropping Lopez to the canvas twice on his way to a 23rd career knockout at the Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario.

Also on the bill, two more ex-world title holders recorded victories as Miguel Vazquez and Shawn Porter put their IBF championship disappointments against Mickey Bey and Kell Brook behind them to get back in the win column.

Mexican Vazquez was dethroned in September, whilst Porter lost his title in a month earlier, but both can now look further towards renewed challenges after defeating Jerry Belmontes and Erick Bone respectively.

‘The Puppet’ put together an impressive display at 140lbs to out-point Belmontes 99-91 (twice) and 98-92 over ten rounds, whilst Porter halted late replacement Bone in five rounds following the withdrawal of Roberto Garcia through illness.

Heavyweight Chris Arreola made a successful comeback from two losses to Bermane Stiverne with a hard-fought eight-round win over Curtis Harper, whilst Gerald Washington decisioned journeyman Jason Gavern to push his record to 16-0.
