The weights are in and its time to fight! Australian Champion ‘Iron’ Will Young and challenger Luke ‘Action’ Jackson both looked fit, strong and extremely focused when they jumped on the scales for the official weigh in.
Young might be the defending champion, but he’s certainly the underdog. Jackson is a heavy favourite to take the belt back to Tasmania.
This one has been billed as a fight of the year candidate with Young declaring he will be at his pressuring best – vowing to apply relentless attack against Jackson.
In the other title fight it’s WBC Youth Silver World Champion Brayd ‘The Great White’ Smith against Filpino World Boxing Federation International champ John ‘Mulawin’ Moralde.
The victor will walk away with the WBC Asia Continental belt and a top fifteen World rating.
Both boys are also undefeated and both looked in tremendous shape on the scales today. Somebody’s ‘0’ is going to go in this one!
On a stacked undercard Herman Ene-Purcell takes on James Rowe in a heavyweight grudge match.
Former NRL star Michael Witt makes his professional debut against Cain Buckland.
In a champion vs champion showdown New Zealand National title holder Daniel Roy Maxwell takes on dual Qld and Victorian champ Darren Askew.
Former amateur star Brent Rice makes his pro debut against Taree’s Beau Callaghan.
Toowoomba heavyweight Joel Stower, who is one fight for one knockout win takes on Dalby’s Michael Bond who is on debut.
Rounding out the show is Olef Olsen taking on Ben Crow.
The first pro fight will commence at 7pm. A massive corporate card will open the extravaganza of boxing with 23 corporate bouts taking place.
