Cork’s Gary ‘Spike’ O’Sullivan is looking to impress again after a devastating 2nd round knockout victory in Boston last month with a fight against a dangerous opponent at the legendary Madison Square Garden in New York City this Saturday March 14th.

Spike (20-1, 12 KOs) takes to the ring against Milton Nunez (28-12, 25 KOs), a tough Colombian with 25 knockouts to his name, and a resume full of world-class opponents like Dmitry Chudinov, Sergio Mora and current World Champions Danny Jacob and Genady Golovkin for Spike to measure himself against.

Spike has been making quite an impression on the US fight fans, first with his impressive victory over Texan Larry Smith in front of a raucous Boston crowd on February 26th and since then by making the rounds of the gyms, boxing clubs, radio stations and television outlets in Boston and New York to sell his upcoming bout – with the help of his enthusiastic new promoters Murphys Boxing USA, fronted by the charismatic Ken Casey.

The explosive Mahon Middleweight is excited to be fighting in New York City and Madison Square Garden but especially to be doing so over the St. Patrick’s Day weekend, and with plenty of his new fans in attendance. The Irishman is looking to put on a show, saying this week: “Boston is my home away from home for fighting, but I’m excited to be fighting in New York this weekend. To be fighting at Madison Square Garden is a dream come true. It’s the home of boxing and something that every fighter wishes for, so this is definitely one to tick off my bucket list.”

Notorious for the punching power and aggressive come-forward style honed by Paschal Collins at Dublin’s Celtic Warrior Gym, O’Sullivan went on to say “Look, we fighters don’t get paid overtime, and people know what to expect from me. Anthony Fitzgerald was supposed to be a big test for me because he’d taken Andy Lee and Eamon O’Kane the distance, and I put him to sleep inside a minute with one of Sky Sports knockouts of the year. Larry Smith last month couldn’t live with my body shots and told me afterwards that he’d never been hit so hard in his life. My fans know what I bring, and I’m coming to New York to throw bombs and get Milton Nunez out of there.”

Ken Casey of Murphys Boxing USA is also excited to bring Spike to Madison Square Garden, saying “It was our plan to vigorously promote Spike in Boston and New York, and what a great place for Spike to show the boxing world what a special fighter he is. Madison Square Garden on the St. Patrick’s Day weekend with Spike O’Sullivan ready to go to war? It just does not get any better than that.”
