‘Iron’ Will Young and Luke ‘Action’ Jackson came face to face for the first time at the official press conference and a defiant Will Young declared he was ready to shock Australian boxing.
“I’m going to cause the biggest upset in Australian boxing this year and how good is it going to be to do it in front of my family and friends in Toowoomba,” Young said.
“I didn’t have to take this fight, but I wanted the fight, It’s a personal challenge to me.
“The Australian title means a lot to me and to defend it against a creditable opponent like Luke Jackson means the world to me.”
It’s also a very personal mission for Luke ‘Action’ Jackson.
“This has never been about Will Young, It’s always been about me,” Jackson said.
“From the moment I turned pro one of my goals was to win the Australian featherweight title, Will Young has that title so I need to go through him to achieve my goal.
“I know I’m a hot favourite for this fight, but I don’t control those things – all I can control is how I’ve prepared and i’m in great shape for this one.
“I dedicate myself to be the best and I don’t believe Will Young has ever fought anyone of my calibre before.”
