French Olympic boxer amongst ten dead in reality TV show Helicopter crash

Vastine, who was just 28 years old, was one of ten people, including the two Argentine pilots in control, on board one of two helicopters that collided and went down in the La Rioja province of west Argentina.

Three of the dead have already been confirmed as French sports personalities with London 2012 gold medal swimmer Camille Muffat and competitive sailor Florence Arthaud named by the French Presidential office among the deceased.

“The sudden death of our fellow French nationals is a cause of immense sadness,” read a statement from French President Francois Hollande who is leading the mourning currently being experienced in his country.

‘Dropped’ is a popular show in France airing on TF1 and is produced by Adventure Line Productions (ALP). The company lost a total of five employees in the shocking collision who were named as Laurent Sbasnik, Lucie Mei-Dalby, Volodia Guinard, Brice Guilbert and Edouard Gilles.

Several famous French names have since expressed their sadness at the events that transpired including ex-Arsenal footballer Sylvain Wiltord and Prime Minister Manuel Valls.

Figure skater Phillipe Candeloro, who was also part of the show, released a statement following the incident which read; “Philippe Candeloro is extremely shocked but unharmed. The absolute horror.”
