Yigit returns following the sixth-round destruction of Kim Poulsen at the Nordic Fight Night in Frederikshavn, Denmark earlier this month, which saw the Stockholm fighter claim the WBC Baltic Welterweight title. Yigit outworked and outclassed his Danish opponent, flooring Poulsen with a vicious body shot in the fifth-round, before an explosive uppercut put an end to the action in the sixth.
The 23 year-old must now prove himself against one of Europe’s top light welterweights in a ten-round contest at the StadtHalle in Rostock. Schwarzkopf, the newly crowned EBU-EE Champion, is coming off the back of an impressive first-round technical knockout win over Anzor Gamgebeli in Berlin last May, and the German will be eager to assert his dominance in the European light welterweight scene with a victory over Yigit on March 21.
Said promoter Nisse Sauerland: ”This is a fantastic match up between two of Europe’s most exciting light welterweights. There is a lot at stake for both fighters, neither will want to lose their unbeaten record. Fans can look forward to an explosive encounter on March 21 in Rostock.”
