Rey Ojeda records 16th career win in Puerto Rico (photos)

Universal Promotions successfully presented the first edition of 2015 of the acclaimed series ‘Night of Champions DIRECTV’ in Puerto Rico.

In the main event, NABA Lightweight Champion of the World Boxing Association, Rey ‘The Maestro’ Ojeda (16-0, 9KO’s) easily dominated Mexican Sergio ‘The Twin’ Villanueva to score a unanimous decision (27-6- 2 14KO’s).

Ojeda was able to overcome the aggression and pressure of Villanueva using his boxing and thus proving his extraordinary physical condition. The vote of the judges at the end of the fight was 100-90, 97-93 and 99-91 in favor of ‘The Maestro’.

In the co-feature, Jonathan ‘Bomba’ Gonzalez (16-1-1, 11KO’s) won the vacant NABA flyweight belt of the World Boxing Association in beating the Dominican Erickson ‘Kiki’ Martell (12-5- 1 8KO’s) via UD.

‘Bomba’ took control of the fight, knocking his opponent down in the first and eighth rounds on his way to a 100-88, 99-89 and 100-88 triumph.

In other bouts, WBA fringe super featherweight champion Alberto ‘Transformer’ Market (11-0, 3KO’s) looked great beating by Enrique Quinones via TKO in three rounds. Featherweight prospect, Felix ‘The Shadow’ Caraballo (3-0-2, 3KO’s) settled his bout with Joseph Mora in the first round. Undefeated welterweight, Emmanuel ‘Pirata’ De Jesús (14-0, 10KO’s) dispatched in two rounds to Jorge Cordero, who visited the canvas three times.
