Vladimir Tikhonov seeks new opponent for March 20; Nick Quigley makes welcome return

The 24 year-old Russian, who is highly-rated and undefeated in 12 contests, was due to face John Vincent Moralde for the vacant WBFED title until the Filipino pulled out to instead oppose Braydon Smith in Australia a week earlier.

Also on the bill, Nick Quigley makes his comeback following two years and ten months out of action at the higher weight of light heavyweight in a four round bout against Ludvig Gina. Quigley, who last appeared in April 2012 on the Tony Bellew v Danny McIntosh undercard at the Echo Arena, was given the all-clear following a recent brain scan meaning the 26 year-old can now make a return on what will be an emotional evening for him and his famous boxing family.

Other contests see Antonio Counihan participate in an eight-round lightweight contest, whilst Paul Economidies will face Isaac Quaye over six rounds at super bantamweight. Tasif Khan will also fight a six-rounder at the bantamweight limit, whilst Jay Carney will aim to build on his impressive debut back in December against Petr Gyna over four sessions.

Lee Boyce (light heavyweight), Scott McIntyre (middleweight) and young Russian prospect David Agadzhanyan (featherweight) make up the rest of the card and will all feature in four-round bouts.

Tickets are priced £30 Balcony and £40 ringside which is great value for money for a nine-fight card boasting a top of the bill title fight. Tickets are available on 0151 727 6644 or online at www.vaughanboxing.tv
