The UK’s largest boxing promoter, Matchroom Boxing, has today announced a new partnership with the world’s largest ticket marketplace, StubHub, part of the eBay Inc. group of companies.
The partnership enables Matchroom Boxing to use StubHub.co.uk as an official distribution channel for its primary tickets, all of which will be listed transparently and at face value.
StubHub will also operate the official ticket resale channel for Matchroom Boxing, alongside having a package of brand marketing and activation rights linked with each of their forthcoming fights. The agreement follows the successful and ongoing partnership between StubHub and Anthony Joshua MBE, the current WBC International Heavyweight Champion and one of Matchroom Boxing’s leading fighters. In addition to Anthony Joshua, the new partnership will give boxing fans access to tickets for fights in 2015 involving many other leading British boxers. The debut contest for the new partnership was ‘Capital Punishment’ on Saturday 31st January at London’s The O2, where StubHub operated as the venue’s Official Ticket Resale Marketplace. The card was packed with some of London’s finest boxers as Kevin Mitchell defeated Daniel Estrada for the vacant WBC Silver Lightweight title and in an eliminator for the World title. At the core of the partnership is providing the best possible experience to boxing fans.
The dynamic offering of both transparent primary listed directly by Matchroom Boxing, alongside resale ticket listings will provide fans with a greater breadth of choice of tickets on a safe, secure and transparent platform. Nick Harford, Head of Business Development and Partnerships, International at StubHub said: “StubHub is delighted to be partnering with Matchroom Boxing and to become their Official Ticket Marketplace. StubHub, which was launched in the US in 2000, was acquired by eBay in 2007 and opened its first international office in the UK in March 2012. Every purchase made through the site is backed by StubHub’s comprehensive FanProtect Guarantee. As a true marketplace, StubHub does not own, price or purchase any tickets listed on the site.
