Juan Manuel Marquez has been speaking about the possibility of a Floyd Mayweather v Manny Pacquiao clash on May 2 as the Mexican legend pays a visit to England to see compatriot Daniel Estrada fight Kevin Mitchell on Saturday.
The 41 year-old, who has fought Pacquiao four times over the years and Mayweather once back in 2009, believes that the $250m super-fight must take place in May for the sake of the fans and says it’s down to ‘Money’ to make it a reality.
‘The most important thing is that the fight happens,” Marquez told Matchroom Boxing. “All boxing fans want to see this fight but I’m not sure if this was to create more hype around the fight because Pacquiao was also here in London.
“Apart from creating hype, the fans want to see this fight to see best, so I think the only thing missing is Mayweather signing for the fight. Let’s hope he accepts it and we all get to see this fight.”
Mayweather and Pacquiao have met up twice this week already to talk face-to-face about a potential clash in Las Vegas leaving the boxing world awaiting the official news they have craved for seven long years.
