Haymon/NBC deal confirms Thurman-Guerrero, Broner-Molina and Garcia-Peterson

On March 7 in Las Vegas, interim WBA welterweight champion Keith ‘One Time’ Thurman will defend his belt against Robert ‘The Ghost’ Guerrero in a high-profile contest that sees Adrien Broner face John Molina Jr. in the 140lb co-feature.

Then on April 11, Danny Garcia and Lamont Peterson will top the bill in a WBA, WBC and IBF super lightweight unification clash as Haymon puts together the initial stages of his plot to challenge Showtime and HBO as the main TV players in the sport.

In addition, the ‘PBC’ will use Olympic style and random drug testing on all fighters who participate in their shows and will have all-time great Sugar Ray Leonard as a guest analyser sitting alongside Al Michaels for some 20 nights of boxing per year.

The formalisations of Haymon’s plans, which have come to fruition since his move away from Golden Boy Promotions, mark a new dawn for many of the big name fighters under his wing, with more bouts to be announced in the near future.
