Undefeated super-middleweight champion Andre Ward has penned a promotional deal with world renowned rapper Jay-Z to join his fledgling boxing outfit at Roc Nation, it has been announced this weekend.
The talented 30 year-old was a guest at ringside on Friday night as Roc Nation made their event debut at Madison Square Garden Theather in New York and will hope to kickstart his career following just two fights in three years.
Ward had previously been embroiled in a contract dispute at Goossen Boxing which hampered the American’s efforts to improve his pound for pound standing in the sport and saw the ‘S.O.G’ drop from the WBN P4P Top 50 last November due to inactivity.
Roc Nation are due back in action with their second event sometime in the spring and Ward will no doubt be the headline act as the ex-Super-Six king looks to seal some mega-fights against the likes of Gennady Golokvin in the coming year.
In other news regarding Jay-Z’s company, light-welterweight contender Adrien ‘The Problem’ Broner has reportedly turned down an approach to join Roc Nation after US media source TMZ published details of a spurned deal worth $40 million over five years.
