Star of the silver screen Mickey Rourke has proved that his boxing comeback is no gimmick after showing off a fantastic physique for his upcoming fight with Elliot Seymour.
It’s hard to believe the 80’s icon, who is currently enjoying a return to top billing in Hollywood, is 62 years old as he went through a pre-bout workout in Moscow.
Although Rourke’s bout with Seymour is not sanctioned, the American will still be keen to stay undefeated having amassed an 8-0-2 record in his spell as a professional in the early 1990’s.
Rourke has conducted himself impeccably through fight week, and on the back of Bernard Hopkins announcing that he will fight on into his 50’s, the Iron Man 2, The Wrestler and Sin City actor is a welcome addition to the sport.
It’s been 20 years since Rourke last graced the ring when fighting out a draw with Sean Gibbons in Florida, after which ‘El Marielito’ needed plastic surgery to correct facial problems.
Former world champion Ruslan Provodnikov tops the bill in Luzhniki on Friday night as ‘The Siberian Rocky’ collides with Mexican great Jose Luis Castillo, whilst a host of contenders feature on the undercard alongside the returning Rourke.
