Former boxer Jamie Moore has been abused by an internet troll this weekend, who not only insulted the former European champion, but took aim at his family in what was a shocking incident.
Moore, who was shot multiple times when training Matthew Macklin in Spain over the summer, has been getting on with things since the life-threatening situation he found himself in and was working in Liverpool on Saturday night at the Echo Arena.
Upon his return to social media after the Tony Bellew v Nathan Cleverly climax, Moore found a sickening tweet awaiting him from a user that will not be given the notoriety of being named by World Boxing News.
The disgusting message, which is too vile to repeat, has caused outrage amongst the boxing community as the likeable Moore is well-respected and an integral part of the UK scene through his coaching and punditry work since retiring.
Ex-British champion Curtis Woodhouse, who famously chased down an internet troll when abused himself, backed Moore on Sunday and jokingly offered to find the culprit and pass on his address to the Mancunian.
It’s yet another example of the bad side of social media that people in the public eye have to withstand this sort of cowardly behaviour, which was hurriedly deleted by the offender once flagged by Moore on his account.
