Roach: Pacquiao KO’d Khan at least four times, no point fighting him

Roach, who was speaking to media including Jeff Powell of the UK’s Daily Mail during a publicity session in Macau, outlined that Pacquiao proved way too much for Khan when the pair were under his tutelage at the Wild Card in Los Angeles.

“Manny frequently put Amir on the floor, knocking him cold four or five times,” said Roach, who then went on to state that a fight between the two is of no interest to him going forward.

“There’s no point Manny fighting Amir. The reality is that it’s no big fight.”

These latest remarks from Roach will come as a further kick in the teeth to Khan who left the five time Coach of the Year after his knockout loss to Danny Garcia in 2012.

Khan, 27, has since revived his career with Virgil Hunter and fights Devon Alexander in December. A win for Olympic silver medallist Khan could mean a lucrative bout with pound for pound best Floyd Mayweather Jr. in May 2015 as the Briton aims to become a two-weight world title holder in the coming year.

Manny Pacquiao v Chris Algieri is live on BoxNation in the UK on November 22 (into November 23) at 1.30am. To subscribe click BoxNation. US viewers can see the fight on HBO PPV
