Former Vitali Klitschko opponent Manuel Charr has called out Shannon Briggs as the ‘Diamond Boy’ looks for a way to get to world title holder Wladimir.
“I we can make a fight with Briggs, then the winner can fight Wladimir,” said Charr.
Manuel Charr has only one goal in the sport and that is to become world heavyweight champion and get Wladimir Klitschko in front of his fists.
Klitschko’s manager Bernd Bönte officially stated last week that Klitschko and his “stalker” Briggs will not fight, so Charr wants to put the former world champion from the United States totally out of the way and earn himself a new world title chance by beating him.
“Shannon Briggs believes that he can purely talk his way into a title fight, but if he really wants to get in the ring against Wladimir he must deserve his chance by beating other opponents,” says Charr. “I urge Shannon Briggs to accept my challenge for an elimination fight so that the winner can truly earn a fight with Wladimir.”
Both Manuel Charr and Shannon “The Cannon” Briggs have been in the ring with Wladimir’s older brother Vitali Klitschko as Briggs was defeated by the former WBC champion in October 2010 clearly on points. whilst Charrs was stopped in September 2012 via a cut in the fourth round.
“Both Briggs and I have a score to settle with the Klitschko family,” Charr went on. “In a direct duel we can find out who is the better out of us and thus a worthy challenger to Vladimir. I’ll shut his big mouth and rid the world champion of his stalker. And then I cam get Wladimir in the ring and fulfill my dream of winning a championship belt!”
