Leon Spinks continues recovery following abdominal operations

The 61 year-old, who shocked Muhammad Ali to win the WBC title in 1978, is said to overcome complications from the first surgery, which hopefully will now lead to a full recovery following a second.

On Wednesday, the World Boxing Council issue a short statement on Spinks as the boxing world pull for his well-being.

The WBC wants to inform that former WBC heavyweight champion Leon Spinks is currently being treated at Veterans Hospital in Las Vegas Nevada. His wife Brenda is caring for him and the world of boxing joins them in prayers during this difficult times. – WBC

Spink claimed Olympic gold in 1976 with younger brother Michael and both went on to become world champions in their own right.

WBN would like to send our thoughts to Mr. Spinks and his family at this time.
