The 64-year-old, who had been an integral part of the sport for many years, was always a good friend to WBN in the past when answering our queries and we are truly shocked to hear this news.

A statement from Dan’s family outlined his own personal fight in the latter part of Mr. Goossen’s life and we would like to send our condolences to all who have been affected by this terrible loss.

“It is with overwhelming regret that we announce the passing of Dan Goossen at just 64 from complications relating to liver cancer,” said the announcement.

“The sudden news of his diagnosis was very much a private matter and his final days were spent surrounded by his family and closest friends.

“Sadness is difficult to escape as we grieve his passing, however, we are filled with pride by the fact that Dan Goossen battled this aggressive illness with boundless strength and the last days of his life were fought and lived with unflinching bravery, pure love, and grace beyond measure.”

“Arrangements are pending and details will be announced in the next few days.”

DAN GOOSSEN

Goossen, who had represented pound for pound star Andre Ward in recent years, will leave a huge void with his absence and his contribution to the sport will never be forgotten.
