Kalle Sauerland reacted to his fighter Arthur Abraham being given a much-debated unanimous decision victory over Briton Paul Smith in Kiel on Saturday and is fully open to the idea of a return.
Abraham, 34, took an eye-popping 119-109, 117-111 (twice) triumph on the scorecards after a pulsating contest, although there was outrage from the UK contingent upon the reading out of the result.
On my card, Smith had done enough to squeeze a close win in a fight that could have been argued either way, but the nature of the official scoring has not sat well with most who witnessed the events.
In the video below by IFL TV’s James Helder, Sauerland states many times that a rematch can happen if the money is right, but all but ruled out any chance of Smith gaining home advantage in Liverpool.
A neutral venue could be the way to go if a stunned Eddie Hearn can get his way and begin negotiations for a second fight, which would be the least Smith deserved for playing his part in a great battle.
