Super-fight on the ropes as Floyd Mayweather clowns Manny Pacquiao

With fans clinging on to the slightest hope that Mayweather will agree to fight the Filipino in May or September next year, before retiring.

‘Money’ has once again been dismissive of the fight ever reaching the negotiation stage.

According to Mayweather, Pacquiao is ‘broke and desperate’. He needs to secure a pay-per-view welterweight battle with the American in order to clean up the tax problems that have dogged him in recent years.

In an out-of-the-blue social media rant on Friday, 37-year-old Mayweather posted pictures of Pacquiao being knocked down and out by Juan Manuel Marquez in December 2012.

Maywather also labeled the Congressman’s PPV pulling power as a joke. And that there was a new DVD on the way entitled: ‘3 Ways to Sleep – Face, back and butt’ – alluding to the collage he posted up.

FLOYD MAYWEATHER vs MANNY PACQUIAO

This latest outburst represents yet another example of Mayweather’s unwillingness to engage with Pacquiao in any future contest. And with just one more year left in the sport, it is highly doubtful the encounter will ever happen.

Pacquiao, 35, faces Chris Algieri on November 22 in Macao, China in the latest defense of his WBO crown. But has seemed preoccupied in the build-up, along with promoter Bob Arum, about the possibility of getting Mayweather to agree on a fight.

Mayweather has few options left as the scouts for his May 2015 opponent. Amir Khan and IBF champion Kell Brook are eyeing a clash against each other and the likes of Timothy Bradley and Marquez off the table.

That could leave Algieri in a position to make the fight his own with a shock victory over Pacquiao. It could also lead to Floyd Mayweather seeing the 140lb world champion as an ideal foe for a massive unification in the spring.
