Jerome Wilson being cared for in hospital after ‘severe head injury’

The 29 year-old, who burst onto the scene with a highlight reel KO win over Harry Janes in 2010, has endured a chequered career since then and lost to Ambomo on points back in May.

Wilson took some heavy shots in their return and was down in round two before shipping more in the sixth and eventually going down heavily.

Wilson was treated almost immediately as those at ringside saw the emergency at hand, and promoter David Coldwell has now confirmed that his fighter’s condition is serious.

“It is with deep regret that I have to make the following statement,” said Coldwell.

“Jerome Wilson, unfortunately, suffered a severe head injury during his fight in Sheffield last night. He receives the best possible care, and while he receives treatment, Jerome’s family requests privacy at this difficult time.

“Further updates will be released when Jerome’s family feel it appropriate to do so; therefore, no further comment will be made until directed by Jerome’s family.”

WBN would like to pass on our best wishes for Wilson’s quick recovery and to all at Coldwell Boxing.
