After lengthy negotiations, a fight between WBC featherweight champion Jhonny Gonzalez and multi-weight king Jorge Arce became official in the city of Mexico.
The fight will take place on October 4 in the CUM in Los Mochis, Sinaloa and both fighters said their clash will be a historic battle. The event will be a promotion Zanfer Promotions in association with the People.
González and “Travieso” Arce were present on Thursday in Mexico City facing off at a press conference where both are anticipating a ‘bitter struggle in a history-making contest.
Gonzalez (56-8, 47 KOs) will make the sixth defense of the WBC title as Arce aims for a sixth world title in different divisions.
“I will face a strong and experienced fighter who has won five world titles, so I prepare not as the champion but as if I was challenging as world champion,” said the 32-year González, who is coached by the legendary Ignacio Beristain.
Opponent Arce added: “I am determined to win and I will win. I want to get my sixth belt.”
This Friday, tickets go on sale for the historic battle in Los Mochis CUM which can accommodate ten thousand fans. Prices are for ring side at 1,200 pesos, 700 pesos gold zone, 300 silver and 100 pesos and will be generally available in superboletos.com in Latin Palace Hotel in Los Mochis, Sinaloa and in Culiacan and Sinaloa Innova Forum in sports.
