Amir Khan turned away from airport, denied US Visa for Mayweather v Maidana

The 28 year-old has revealed that after initially having his Visa approved by US Customs, Khan was turned away at the airport as he attepmted to check-in.

Speaking via his Facebook page, Khan explained the situation as it stands:

“A week ago my Visa was approved for USA. Today at the airport they pulled me and my uncle to the side and said our Visa has declined now. I was just about to check in,” said Khan.

“So now I’m back in UK and my wife Faryal Makhdoom is in USA. I dropped her off myself this morning thinking I will meet her back in San Francisco. So I guess the Mayweather fight is off for me.

“We are still trying to get to Vegas. Will let you all know what happens.”

A short time later, Khan added: “I spoke to the Prime Minister David Cameron about fast tracking my appointment to the US embassy. He will get back to me shortly.”

Khan was due to be a special guest at this weekend’s huge fight between Mayweather and Marcos Maidana at the MGM Grand as the Bolton fighter is one of those being considered to face the winner.
