IBF champion Kell Brook stabbed in the leg whilst in Tenerife

The 28 year-old, who defeated unbeaten American Shawn Porter last month to clinch his first world title, has been enjoying a much-needed break from his successful ring exploits when the incident occured.

A cut to the arm was also sustained by Brook in what has been described as ‘an altercation’ whilst the Yorkshireman was enjoying a getaway with his pregnant wife.

Early reports state that the Sheffield fighter was taken to hospital, but is not in a serious condition. This is the second time the talented boxer has been stabbed, having suffered injuries to his side and buttocks in a nightclub attack in 2007.

‘The Special One’ is currently scheduled to return to the ring on December 6 in his hometown and has been strongly linked to a massive clash with domestic rival Amir Khan next spring. It’s not yet known whether Brook’s next fight will be affected by his recovery.

Brook’s misfortune comes on the back of ex-pro Jamie Moore recently being shot whilst in training camp as a coach in Marbella, although the former European light-middleweight title holder had a lucky escape and will make a full recovery.

Moore, 35, was hit five times in the hip and legs as he walked towards his home after enjoying a night with friends a party a month ago. The perpetrator remains at large.
