Brook v Khan: Similar numbers to Froch v Groves 2 possible, says Hearn

The super-middleweight world title bout between WBA and IBF title holder Froch and ex-British champion Groves recently attracted a huge crowd at Wembley Stadium, generating big numbers on UK PPV, and Hearn believes that Brook v Khan can be just as lucrative.

“This is an event that I feel has a real outdoor feel to it. I think it can be as big as Carl Froch-George Groves II, the recent event which was wonderful for British boxing,” The Morning View on Sky Sports News HQ

“I think Brook against Khan, if built correctly for a world title, can do similar kind of numbers.”

Brook, 28, is riding high on the back of his impressive win over Shawn Porter in California last week and Hearn is already plotting a fight with Khan, but not until a homecoming fight is arranged for the Sheffield fighter.

“I think it’s unlikely next. Kell is looking at December 6 at Sheffield Arena and Khan is also talking about fighting on the same night,” said Hearn.

“It’s a fight that Kell has craved for many years and now he’s got the belt. There’s no reason for Amir to avoid him anymore and hopefully we can begin talks and get that made for a huge event next summer.

“There is some serious beef between Kell Brook and Amir Khan. They cannot stand each other and I think that those rivalries are always something very special.

“It’s a war of the roses, Lancashire against Yorkshire. Two very, very good fighters,” he added.
